Tofu Microwaved and Fried

I finally found a way to enjoy tofu packed with flavor without it turning mushy. I’m sure there’s a science behind it, but frying gives it a nice extra texture while keeping the inside light and fluffy. A simple sauce finishes off this quick, tasty protein bite perfectly!

Ingredients

  • Firm block of tofu
  • 2 T Potato Starch
  • 1 T sake
  • 1 T shoyu
  • 1/2 t hondashi powder
  • 2 t monk fruit

Directions

  1. Dry the tofu as much as possible with a towel.
  2. Wrap in paper towel and place in microwave safe container for 3 minutes.
  3. Carefully remove tofu to a cutting board, using tongs and spatula, it will be hot.
  4. Cut the tofu in 4 pieces and toss in potato starch.
  5. Add tofu to pan with oil @ about 350F.
