Tofu Microwaved and Fried
I finally found a way to enjoy tofu packed with flavor without it turning mushy. I’m sure there’s a science behind it, but frying gives it a nice extra texture while keeping the inside light and fluffy. A simple sauce finishes off this quick, tasty protein bite perfectly!
Ingredients
- Firm block of tofu
- 2 T Potato Starch
- 1 T sake
- 1 T shoyu
- 1/2 t hondashi powder
- 2 t monk fruit
Directions
- Dry the tofu as much as possible with a towel.
- Wrap in paper towel and place in microwave safe container for 3 minutes.
- Carefully remove tofu to a cutting board, using tongs and spatula, it will be hot.
- Cut the tofu in 4 pieces and toss in potato starch.
- Add tofu to pan with oil @ about 350F.
- Place tofu in pan and cook about 4 minutes per side until golden brown and drain on wire rack.
- Make the sauce by combining remaining ingredients and pour into the pan.
- Return the tofu to the pan to simmer a few minutes and enjoy
