Miso Pork (Slow Cooker)

This is definitely going into my dinner rotation—it's so simple! Just cut large chunks of pork butt, toss them in a crock pot with an easy marinade, and let it cook for 4-6 hours. The result is tender, melt-in-your-mouth pork, no knife required. It's perfect for a rice bowl, especially with a side of pickled onions to balance the richness.

Ingredients

  • 5 pounds of pork butt, cut into 2 inch chunks

  • 1/2 C white miso
  • 1/4 C red miso
  • 3/4 C shoyu
  • 1/2 C brown sugar
  • 2-4 T ginger, minced
  • 2-4 T garlic, minced
  • 2 T Japanese sake

Directions

  1. Place pork butt pieces into crock pot.
  2. Combine remaining ingredients and pour over pork.
  3. Set slow cooker to low for 4-6 hours or until tender like pulled pork.
  4. Serve over rice and Pickled Onions 3 ways / Sides / Recipes | Cooking with Aloha, Texas Style to cut through the richness.
