Laundry detergent 3 ingredients
It feels like I’m going back to old-school methods, with so many unnecessary additives in commercial products these days. I wanted something simple that cleans without leaving a scent. This recipe makes a 5-gallon batch, and only half a cup is needed for a front-loading washing machine. I was pleasantly surprised by how soft it left the laundry.
Ingredients
- 1 bar of castile soap like Bronner's
- 1 C Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda
- 1 C Borax
Directions
- Grate castile soap bar.
- Add 4 C hot water to saucepan over low heat.
- Stil 10 minutes until dissolved.
- Fill a 5 gallon bucket with hot water half way.
- Pour saucepan mixture into the bucket.
- Add the washing soda and Borax, stir 2 minutes until combined.
- Top off bucket with cold water, it was easier to do this in the sink.
- Stir and cover for 24 hours.
- Finished product should be a translucent color.
- I use 1/2 C for a full front load washing machine in cold water.
