I remember eating this in Hawaii as a kid, but never learned how to make it. I just have the memory of enjoying them with my family. There are so many ways to prepare sweet potatoes, but we called these Okinawan sweet potatoes. Living on the mainland, I found a bag at the market and wanted to see if they tasted the same—it’s pretty close. If you have family who still makes them the traditional way, get the recipe or record them making it. I wish I had.  Didn't realize how simple it is to make!
